The West Bengal government has made “Vande Mataram” compulsory in all madrasas during morning assemblies, extending an earlier rule for schools. The directive, issued soon after CM Suvendu Adhikari assumed office, replaces previous practices. It applies to recognized institutions under the Madrasah Board, amid ongoing nationwide debate over the policy.
