The Supreme Court has quashed a man’s rape conviction, noting that he and the complainant have since married. The Bench observed that their consensual relationship was wrongly treated as a criminal act due to a misunderstanding. Justices Nagarathna and Sharma added that they felt the couple could reconcile fully if they chose to marry.
