In 2023, 86 Indians were attacked or murdered abroad, a significant rise from 29 cases in 2021 and 57 in 2022, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh informed Parliament. The incidents occurred in countries like the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Saudi Arabia. Singh reiterated that the safety of Indians abroad is a top priority for the government.
