Britain is set to formally recognise a Palestinian state this weekend, following US President Donald Trump’s departure after his state visit. PM Keir Starmer had warned action would follow unless Israel eased Gaza’s suffering and agreed to a ceasefire. Israel argues recognition would reward Hamas, while France, Canada, and Australia plan similar moves.
