Karnataka Plans Green Cess On Water Bills In Western Ghats Cities

Karnataka may soon impose a green cess on water bills in cities using water from rivers originating in the Western Ghats. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has directed his department to draft a proposal for the cess. The Additional Chief Secretary for Forest, Environment, and Ecology has been instructed to submit the proposal within a week, according to sources.
