Bengal Open To Union Polls, Colleges Slacking: Court

The West Bengal government told the Calcutta High Court it is willing to conduct student union elections, but claimed colleges and universities have not acted. The court ordered 365 colleges and 10 universities to join the case. Student elections have been suspended since 2020, with renewed protests after the Kasba Law College gang rape case.
