Tamil Film ‘Amaran’ Faces Backlash For Portrayal Of Muslims

Tamil film ‘Amaran’, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a soldier who died in a 2014 counter-terrorism operation in Kashmir, has faced criticism in Tamil Nadu. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Hassan, the film stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. The SDPI and other groups have objected, claiming it portrays Muslims and Kashmiris negatively.
