Landslide In Darfur Killed 1,000 People After Heavy Rains

A huge avalanche struck Tarasin hamlet in Sudan’s Central Darfur, killing over 1,000 people. The calamity occurred in the Marrah Mountains and was caused by heavy rainfall in late August. The Sudan Liberation Movement-Army, which dominates the area, confirmed the tragedy as one of the country’s biggest natural disasters in recent years.
