‘Manmohan Singh’s Tenure As PM Hindered Congress’s Comeback’

Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar claimed in his book that retaining Manmohan Singh as PM, despite his declining health, cost the Congress a third term. Aiyar argued that Pranab Mukherjee should have been made PM while Singh could have become president in 2012, stating Singh’s slowed governance and Sonia Gandhi’s health issues weakened the party’s prospects.
