India has fallen to the 131st position out of 146 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index, with a score of just 64.1%. This places India among the lowest-ranked nations in South Asia. The index, published annually by the World Economic Forum, saw Iceland retain the top spot for the 16th consecutive year, followed by Finland and Norway.
