A Kerala govt inspection revealed that 1,498 officials, including gazetted officers and professors, were fraudulently receiving social security pensions meant for vulnerable groups. The Finance Department initiated an Information Kerala Mission audit that revealed the irregularities. The govt provides a monthly pension of ₹1,600 to around 62 lakh people from weaker sections of society.
