NHRC Sends Notices To NHRC Over Alarming Increase In Tribal Suicides

Kerala government and state police chief received NHRC notices over an “alarming increase in suicides” among tribals. Around 23 suicides were reported this year alone, NHRC said. As per NHRC, around 138 suicides were reported between 2011-2022, mostly in Peringammala Panchayat. “After a two years of silence, the suicide menace returned to haunt the tribal communities,” NHRC said.
