Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stones for India’s first riverine lighthouses at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati. Four lighthouses will be built along the Brahmaputra River, part of National Waterway‑2, to improve navigation safety and strengthen inland water transport infrastructure.
