IBA Urges Concessional Tariff For CBG Units

The Indian Biogas Association has urged the Petroleum Ministry to offer concessional electricity tariffs for CBG plants, citing high power costs, up to 48% of OPEX, as a major hurdle. Shifting from ₹7 kWh industrial rates to ₹4.5 kWh domestic rates could boost viability, attract private investment, and support India’s clean energy and Net Zero goals.
