Mauro Morandi, known as Italy’s “Robinson Crusoe,” has passed away at 85 after living alone on Budelli Island for 32 years. Evicted in 2021, he struggled to adjust to urban life, expressing nostalgia for his peaceful solitude. Morandi became a caretaker of the island after a shipwreck in 1989, dedicating his life to environmental education before his health declined following his return to civilization.
