Story:
After Deepak Kumar (Sparsh Shrivastava) marries Phool (Nitanshi Goel), the two take a train to Murti, where Deepak lives with his family. Given that it is auspicious Tritiya Day, a lot of individuals make vows, which causes the train to fill up with newlyweds. Deepak and Phool are seated next to two other couples, but every bride wears a scarlet veil over her face. As they reach their destination, Deepak brings Pushpa Rani (Pratibha Ranta), another bride, to his house by accident. When Pushpa lifts the veil, the entire family is taken aback to see her. The remainder of the movie centers on Deepak’s search for her wife, who has vanished from sight.
Pros:
Expecting something exceptional from a movie bearing Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s name is reasonable. By offering amusement together with a crucial social message, Laapataa Ladies strikes the appropriate chord. The entire thing is done in a lighthearted manner, so the movie is by no means didactic. Certain artists generally use a serious approach while creating films about societal issues, and this is acceptable. Still, there’s a good chance these kinds of movies may find a larger audience if they’re presented in an engaging way. For Laapataa Ladies, this is the greatest part. The humorous passages that Kiran Rao and the team have created are quite engaging. Without sacrificing the entertaining element, she skillfully conveyed the point.
The characters are really relatable, and everything appears to be quite natural. But the greatest is saved for the final thirty minutes. One will be smiling pleasingly by the end of the movie, and it will also provoke thought. The female characters in the movie are the best-written ones in a long time. While every actor gave a touching performance, Pratibha Ranta and Ravi Kishan stole the show. The movie’s message is communicated through Pratibha Ranta’s endearing character. With his brilliant screen presence and clever speech delivery, Ravi Kishan makes a great impression as a police officer. Sparsh Shrivastava does a good job of capturing the suffering that Deepak’s character experiences. With her endearing and naive portrayal, Nitanshi Goel will win us over. By lip-reading some amazing lines, Chhaya Kadam makes her imprint. The movie is made even more memorable by the fact that the whole family can watch it.
Cons:
The movie isn’t flawless because of a few logical mistakes in the plot. Undoubtedly, the film has an impact, although some things are missed. It would have been even better if they had been looked after. It takes some time for the movie to get up and running after a lackluster start. The runtime is clean; however, there are a few scenes that may have been shortened. There are moments when the pace slows down a little.
Technical Aspects:
The musical score by Ram Sampath is enjoyable, much like the movie. The music was a perfect complement to the story. Vikash Nowlakha’s cinematography is well-done and creates the ideal atmosphere for this heartwarming story. Although the production design is appealing, the editing could have been better. The budget for the movie was met by the producers. Kiran Rao presented a few societal topics in an engaging way, with some funny moments thrown in. The poignant and captivating conclusion compensates for the pacing problems.
Verdict:
Overall, Laapataa Ladies is a straightforward yet endearing movie that emphasizes the major problems that women in society confront. The movie never becomes overly preachy and offers a decent amount of amusement. Impressive performances were given by Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Prathibha Ranta. The story contains a few logical mistakes, and several of the first half’s scenes should have been improved. There are moments when the pace is a little slow. Even so, it’s worthwhile to watch Laapataa Ladies with your family.
