Story:
Aditya Ram (Allu Sirish) is a pilot and Pallavi (Gayatri Bharadwaj) is an Air Traffic Controller in Vizag. After falling for Aditya, Pallavi’s life takes a dark turn when an incident jeopardizes his career. When Pallavi is kidnapped, a bizarre twist occurs—her soul gets trapped inside her teddy bear. Together with Aditya, Pallavi must find her body and stop the villain’s sinister plans. Their journey to reunite and solve the mystery unfolds in this intriguing film.
Pros:
Allu Sirish delivers a solid performance as a pilot on a mission to save his love, with Buddy, the teddy bear, providing a unique and entertaining sidekick. Gayatri Bharadwaj brings charm to her role as the heroine, and her chemistry with Sirish adds depth to their romance. The film includes fun nods to popular hits like “Kalki 2898 AD” and the Jai Balayya slogans, adding to its appeal, particularly for younger audiences.
Cons:
“Buddy” struggles with a predictable plot that fails to build suspense. The story unfolds as expected early on, with director San Anton’s execution lacking engagement. Many scenes lack logic, leading to unintended laughs, especially in the climax. Supporting actors like Ali, Mukesh Rishi, Prisa Singh, and Ajmal Ameer are underutilized, with shallow characterizations. Several scenes drag, and much of the comedy falls flat. The film suffers from pacing issues and inconsistent humor, detracting from its overall impact.
Technical Aspects:
San Anton’s direction falters with a routine story and uninspired screenplay lacking twists. Mediocre production values and questionable CGI effects weaken the film. Editing by Ruben lacks sharpness, while Krishnan Vasant’s cinematography is decent but unremarkable. Hiphop Tamizha’s music is average, contributing little to the overall experience.
Verdict:
Buddy features a familiar storyline with some amusing moments from Allu Sirish and Teddy Gokul. However, it lacks a compelling narrative and strong screenplay. While it may entertain kids, the film falls short in delivering memorable scenes and engaging storytelling. Viewers seeking more captivating entertainment may want to explore other options.
