If a dog bites or scratches a child, move them away from the animal and wash the wound with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes. Do not apply turmeric, toothpaste, oil or other home remedies. Even small scratches that break the skin need medical attention. Take the child to a doctor quickly, as rabies can be prevented with timely treatment and vaccination.
