The Madras High Court has held that childlessness, by itself, cannot amount to cruelty in a marriage. The Court dismissed a husband's divorce plea alleging that his wife's conduct had prevented them from having kids. It observed that procreation is not sole purpose of marriage and that not having children does not mean either spouse has failed in relationship.
