India's Cheetah Count Rises To 52 In Just 4-Years

4 years after cheetahs returned to India, Project Cheetah has expanded from reintroduction to breeding, cub survival and releases into open forests. India now has 52 cheetahs, including 32 born locally. Of these, 49 live in Kuno National Park and three in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. The programme began with eight wild cheetahs arriving from Namibia in 2022.
