Marathi film 'Gondhal' has been chosen as India's official entry for the 99th Academy Awards. The Film Federation of India jury picked director Santosh Davakhar's debut film from over 30 contenders. It is based on the traditional Maharashtrian Gondhal ritual and won the Silver Peacock at IFFI Goa. The Oscars will be held on March 14, 2027.
