Under new MEA rules, passports for children under 15 are valid for five years or until age 18, whichever is earlier. The Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026 also raised fees for fresh, renewal, Tatkaal, and minor passports. A 10% discount continues for children under eight and seniors above 60, but not for reissue applications.
