The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across parts of southern India today. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh may experience wet weather. Heavy showers are also expected in Puducherry, Karaikal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, prompting residents to remain alert.
