Vidya Balan revealed that she received seven offers to play legendary singer M.S. Subbulakshmi after a tribute photoshoot in 2024. She said she would accept the role only if the necessary permissions were secured. An earlier biopic planned with director Rajiv Menon could not proceed due to a court stay.
