Indian equity markets opened higher today, with the Sensex rising 100 points and trading at 74,188.08 points. The Nifty gaining 30 points and trading at 23.030. 45 at the opening bell. The rupee strengthened by 33 paise to 94.72 against the US dollar, compared with Thursday's close of 95.05. Asian markets also traded positively, with Japan's Nikkei up 1.67%.
