The Supreme Court has ordered Indian Railways to provide insurance for all train tickets bought at railway counters from October 27, 2026. The court criticised slow progress on safety measures, including Kavach, track fencing and foot overbridges. It warned that the Railway Board would be held responsible if the order was not implemented.
