Tamil Nadu plans to seek Centre’s approval for a proposed airport at Manikaneri in Ramanathapuram district. The airport will cover about 600 acres and improve air connectivity to Rameswaram. TIDCO will apply for site clearance from the Civil Aviation Ministry. The site was selected after an AAI inspection, while land acquisition work is already underway.
