Customs has imposed an ₹89-crore penalty on Kannada actor Ranya Rao in an alleged gold-smuggling case. Authorities said Rao and associates allegedly brought around 113 kg of gold from Dubai to India. Three other accused were also penalised, taking the combined penalties beyond ₹244 crore following an investigation into the alleged smuggling network.
