The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly withdrew a bill proposing increased salaries and allowances for legislators after opposition emerged within the House. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said he was never in favour of the measure and would not proceed if even one member opposed it. He subsequently announced the withdrawal of the proposed legislation.
