Tamil Nadu will continue its cloth bag campaign under a new name, "Thunippai Scheme". The Pollution Control Board has begun tenders for vending machines and cloth bags at 105 locations. The earlier "Meendum Manjappai" scheme, launched in 2021, sold yellow cloth bags for Rs 10 to reduce single-use plastic. The renamed scheme aims to keep reusable bags accessible.
