PhonePe plans to hire more than 20,000 on-roll frontline sales employees over the next year and deploy over 50 lakh payment devices within 12 months. About half the SmartSpeakers and point-of-sale devices are intended for rural India. The expansion aims to help small merchants in towns and villages accept digital payments and access financial services.
