Karnataka's 2% Cinema Cess Will Hurt Industry: MAI President

The Multiplex Association of India has urged Karnataka to reconsider its proposed 2% cinema cess, calling it "tax on tax" since 18% GST already applies. MAI President Kamal Gianchandani said the levy would hurt exhibitors and reduce demand, especially as theatres recover post-COVID.
