UPI Payments Above ₹2,000 Face New MDR Rule

UPI merchant payments above ₹2,000 will attract a 0.4% Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), while transactions below that amount remain free. The fee applies to merchants, not customers or person-to-person transfers. For transactions of ₹75,000 and above, MDR will be capped at ₹300, with the changes taking effect from October 15, affecting high-value payments.
