The Central govt has barred banks and payment system providers from charging customers for UPI transactions up to ₹2,000 and RuPay debit card payments. Amendments to the Payment and Settlement Systems Act prohibit direct or indirect fees for people making or receiving payments through these electronic modes, according to the Ministry of Finance notification.
