Filmmaker, screenwriter and cultural administrator R Sarath died at 65 in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday while undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments. Known for Sayahnam, Sthithi and Sheelavathi, Sarath made his directorial debut with Sayahnam in 2000. The film won seven Kerala State Film Awards and the Indira Gandhi National Award.
