Data obtained under the Right to Information Act has revealed that 25% of Jan Dhan accounts are inactive. More than 59 crore accounts have been opened under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana since its launch in August 2014. While maintaining a minimum balance is not mandatory, these accounts remain crucial for transferring govt welfare benefits directly to beneficiaries.
