Credit card transactions in India jumped 24.1% year-on-year to 601 million in July 2026, while total spending rose 7.4% to ₹2.08 lakh crore. The average transaction value dropped 13.5% to ₹3,460. Analysts link the decline partly to growing use of RuPay credit cards through UPI for smaller merchant payments, especially at local stores.
