The Madras High Court has extended its stay on bypolls in five Tamil Nadu Assembly seats until September 8. The Election Commission said it will not notify elections until pending cases are decided. The seats are Trichy East, Viralimalai, Perundurai, Ambasamudram and Karur. Election challenges over the 2026 results remain pending before the court.
