The Supreme Court has warned that the use of black money in polls poses a huge threat to democracy and directed authorities to complete investigations into illicit cash seizures and criminal cases within one year. If the deadline is missed, officials must explain the delay to the Election Commission. The directions came during the hearing of 2014 Bellary case.
