Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation collected 2.5 tonnes of sacred waste in July under its Udavasana programme. The waste, including old deity photos and idols, was collected from homes and temples, then separated and sent for recycling. The programme aims to stop sacred items from reaching landfills, dumping grounds and water bodies.
