The Centre said over 10,000 Indians were protected from a WhatsApp malware campaign through I4C action. Fraudsters sent fake ZIP files posing as RBI, MCA or account statements to steal WhatsApp accounts. The malware spread through victims' contacts. The government urged people not to open unknown files received via WhatsApp, SMS or email.
