The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned junk food within a 50-metre radius of schools and made FSSAI licences compulsory for school canteens, hostel kitchens and mid-day meal contractors. Schools must also form Food Safety Boards, appoint supervisors and follow strict food safety rules to promote healthy eating among children.
