India's star badminton player, PV Sindhu, defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 to win her maiden Japan Open title in Tokyo. The victory ended her two-year wait for a BWF World Tour title and made her the first Indian to lift the Japan Open trophy. It also ended her seven-year wait for a Super 750 or higher championship title.
