Bengal Tables Anti-Goonda Bill With Tough Provisions

The West Bengal Assembly has introduced the Public Safety and Control of Anti-Social Activities Bill, 2026. The proposed law allows preventive detention for up to one year without trial for people accused of anti-social activities. It also includes property seizure provisions and creates an advisory board to review detention cases.
