In Unnao, UP, a Muslim man named Israyil, accused of fatally stabbing Hindu priest Milan Das on June 9, was killed in a police encounter. Police said he opened fire on them, hitting an SI’s bulletproof jacket and a constable’s hand. Retaliatory fire killed him. A reward of ₹1 lakh was on his head.
