The IMD has issued a severe heatwave alert, warning that extreme temperatures will persist across North India until the end of May. States including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and UP are expected to remain under intense heat stress between May 24 and 29. In several regions, temperatures have already crossed 45°C, making daytime conditions unsafe.
