Elephant Goes On Rampage, Silver Ambari Falls

Shivamogga’s Dasara procession was halted after a 36-year-old elephant, Somanna, ran out of control. The 650-kg silver ambari carrying Goddess Chamundeshwari’s idol fell and was damaged. Two cars and three motorcycles were also damaged. Forest officials tried to control the elephant as people fled in panic. The elephants were later taken back to base camp.
