A Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation survey shows 42.6% of Indian workers use two-wheelers to commute, followed by walking at 28.3% and bicycles at 10.7%. West Bengal records the longest average commute at 36 minutes, ahead of Delhi at 35 and Maharashtra at 34. Commuting costs also vary widely for workers across all states.
