India’s solar capacity has risen from 2.8 GW in 2014 to nearly 165 GW by mid-2026. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has reached over 51 lakh families and commissioned 14.8 GW of rooftop solar. The expansion builds on earlier solar initiatives in Gujarat and aims to strengthen household savings and clean-energy adoption nationwide.
