The Andhra Pradesh govt is set to establish four new police commissionerates in Rajahmundry, Kurnool, Tirupati and Guntur. The commissionerates will be headed by officers of IGP or DIG rank and function with the existing police force, without creating posts. Rajahmundry will have three zones, with the existing SP post redesignated as DCP (Law and Order-1).
